Porsche Turbo USA

My interest in sports car racing began in the 1970s, the same time Lee Self developed his devotion to the sport, so I can really appreciate his Porsche Turbo USA book. The photos bring back great memories, and speak volumes about Lee’s knowledge of sports car racing.

Of course, for many years in IMSA, Porsches were IMSA. The legendary 935, one of the most dominant cars ever, was followed by the equally successful 962. And the Porsche legacy continues today. Lee has documented these cars on the road to motorsports racing history in an eye-catching book that is a must for your library.

Of course, I am partial to Sebring, and a large portion of his book follows the 12-hour endurance classic, as well as the Daytona 24.

As many of you already know, Lee Self is an accomplished artist who created the Sebring poster in 1987 and 1988. And while his early photography looks like it was taken by a fan and not a professional (which was exactly the case), it is clear he is an artist with a camera as well as a brush.
